From Skylines to Summits

After 34 years living in New York State I decided it was time for a change, and Rhonda was all for it—so in 1992, we packed up the kids, cranked up the road trip tunes, and drove 2,000 miles west to Colorado. Same country, totally different planet! Skyscrapers turned into snow-capped peaks, and traffic jams gave way to elk crossings.

The first photo is me doing my New York thing circa 1985, and the second was taken shortly after moving to Colorado in 1992—hello, Rocky Mountain National Park!

Talk about a life changing move.

The rest of the photos? Pure Colorado magic from the Molas Pass area in the San Juan Mountains. Spoiler alert: it’s ridiculously gorgeous.

Times Square - I love the magic of the place - the three giant beer and whiskey advertisements, the cold rain forecast, the adult theater across the street, the trash bin I'm posing next to, the trash on the sidewalk, and the picture of Jesus slapped onto the traffic signal above me. (Maybe I was having an epiphany.) It gave me goosebumps - I guess I should have buttoned my black suede jacket!

Rocky Mountain National Park - total bliss...

Molas Pass

This is when he saw my NY plates. He quickly checked for his wallet... 😉
